Having a reliable pair of shoes for urban exploration is paramount to any adventure. You’ll need to not only protect your feet, but also have something that you can maneuver quickly in. I want to share some of the best shoes for urban exploration.

Stellar Tac Waterproof Boots

Stellar Tac Waterproof Military Boot by Under Armour

This was one of my first real pair of urban exploring shoes I bought, and I love my pair for so many reasons. This pair of boots is great for mild exploration.

First off, the Stellar Tac Boots are super comfortable. I’ve owned your normal steel toe average work boot and I hated wearing them for more than two hours.

These are comfortable and allow for great mobility and protection. The boot fits firmly along your ankle while the design allows for breathability if you start to sweat.

Unlike most work boots, I feel that climbing fences and running in the Stellar Tac boots is just as easy as doing it in tennis shoes. These boots do not have a steel toe, however they’re both slip resistant, and completely waterproof.

Here are some key features I really love about the Stellar Tac boots.

  • Comfortable. Breathable on hot days, insulating on cold days.
  • Waterproof. No more cold soggy boots while exploring.
  • Protection. Puncture resistant and slip resistant.
  • Maneuverable. Run, jump, and climb with ease.

Tingley 15 Inch Kneed Boots

If wading around in flooded basements or stomping around storm drains excites you, this boot is for you.

The Tingley 15 Inch Kneed Boots are my go to draining boots and have never let me down and are one of my top shoes for urban exploration.

They’re pretty comfortable as far as drain boots go, which is surprising as most boots like this feel like you’re walking around in plastic tube sock.

They protect your feet up in up to 15 inches of water, which is usually more than enough, anything deeper and I probably don’t want to walk in it without hip waders.

The boots are thick and puncture resistant I can say I feel confident entering deep water in these things.

The Tingley boots are also great at insulating your feet and keeping them warm, which is great if you plan on spending extended time in the water.

Here’s a few features about the Tingley Kneed Boots that I really enjoy.

  • 15 inches of water depth protection.
  • Comfortable yet still reliable.
  • Puncture and abrasion resistant.
  • Insulated to keep your feet warm in cold water.
  • 100% waterproof.

If you’re in the market for a great pair of draining boots, you can pick them up off Amazon.

The Indestructible Shoe

When I first heard about this line of shoes, I thought it was just a bunch of hype. However after doing some research and trying them myself, they quickly became my favorite shoes for urban exploring.

The Indestructible Shoe easily takes the #1 for the best shoe for urban exploring. It combines extreme durability, flexibility, and comfort all in one.

These things were seriously built for urban exploring.

What the hell it’s made out of, I don’t really know. If you go on their website you can watch them run over each other’s feet, smack the shoes with hammers, and even light them on fire.

It’s wild.

They come in over a dozen different styles and have a catalog of both waterproof and breathable shoes to chose from. I have the waterproof ones and can say they definitely live up to their name.

They have all the durability of a steel toed boot, combined with the comfort and maneuverability of a sneaker.

When testing them out I was kind of afraid at first stepping on a nail, but I was quickly surprised at how insanely durable they really are.

Another great feature is that the Indestructible Shoes are also shock resistant.

Have you ever jumped from a high place and then landed with that painful jolt that shoots through your feet? It sucks.

These shoes are designed to redistribute the shock evenly throughout your foot essentially eliminating that pain.

Lastly these shoes are extremely comfortable and lightweight. These are perfect for jumping fences, walking on broken glass, and running from the police.

Here’s a few reasons I think the Indestructible Shoe is the best.

  • Anti-Puncture base. Step on virtually anything.
  • Steel Toe Caps keep our toes safe from heavy objects.
  • Fire resistant
  • Skidproof. No slipping or sliding on water or ice.
  • Waterproof.
  • Comfortable. Less than 1lb. Run, climb jump with ease.
  • Easy to wash. Just throw em in the washer.
  • Free shipping anywhere.
  • 30 day money back guarantee.

If you’re on the fence and not sure what shoes are for you, I’d highly recommend the Indestructible Shoe as the best urban exploration shoe on the market.

It provides the perfect combination of protection and maneuverability that any explorer would need.
